STAMPlorations inspiration #39

More fun for you with the Floral Bliss set today. I was inspired by this H&M catalog, by the colors that kept reappearing - blue, mustard and gray. So I went with it!

Three flower images, three pigment ink pads and three masks were all I needed. Stamped and masked and stamped and masked and stamped.

BTW, notice how I did not follow the gallon/quart/pint rule, but rather have the same number of blooms of each color. Your eye really doesn't know where to rest and keeps moving all over the place, seeming to create movement. Almost like the blooms are falling from above. Do you see that too or is it just me?

Then to finish it off I used a die from Winnie and Walter's The Big, the Bold and Comfort Cutaways. Stacked it and lightly inked it (a la Laura B.) with some yellow and blue.

Take a look at the other cards from the Inspiration DT over at STAMPlorations and join us in the CASE Playground if you have a chance!

I'm joining the STAMPtember fun at Simon Says Stamp Work it Wednesday since I used a stamp. A few times ;)  And the Simon Wednesday Challenge since I didn't use designer paper! Thanks for visiting.

more ink smooshing

As promised yesterday, I'm back with another heat embossed and ink smooshed card for you.

Used STAMPlorations Happy Sunflower and Laura B.'s ink smooshing technique to create this.

I used Scattered Straw, Fossilized Amber and Wild Honey Distress Inks. Splattered the leftover, watered down ink onto the panel with a paint brush too. Added a bit of Vintage Photo to the center of the flower. The stacked and lightly inked die cut sentiment (a la Laura B.) is Sending from SSS. The secondary sentiment is The Big, the Bold and Comfort from Winnie and Walter, heat embossed white onto a brown CS scrap. The strip of washi added a bit more yellow in a classic pattern to this card which is on a tough mission - to cheer someone struggling with a nasty prognosis.

You still have until October 5th to hook up at the Inspiration CASE Playground if you'd like to CASE my card or any of the inspiration project posts by my teamies from the month of September. Check it out here.

Cuz it's STAMPtember and I used a couple stamps on this card, I'm hooking up at Simon Says Stamp Work it Wednesday for September.

And since there's no designer paper on it, I'm joining the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge too!

STAMPlorations inspiration #38

Looking for inspiration for those older STAMPlorations stamp sets? Take a look at today's post over on the blog.

I pulled out one of my favorites, Vignette: It's your Day, lovingly referred to as "wonky cake" by me ;) My sentiment is from The Bee's Knees World Birthday Cakes.

Inspired by my cardmaking hero's ink smooshing, I was. Heat embossed the cake with Leaf Zing embossing powder. Then smooshed Fossilized Amber, Shabby Shutters and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks. Added a strip of washi up top and adhered the watercolor panel to a cardbase covered with a PP from Amy Tangerine's Plus One 12x12 pad. You may notice I ran a yellow inkpad around the edges of the PP for a little more funk on this funky card.

Want to give ink smooshing a try. It's fun. CASE my card and hook up at the Inspiration CASE Playground before October 5th. There are prizes ;) And stop by tomorrow for another ink smooshed lovely.

Happy weekend.

simply create too 95

A new and fitting challenge is up on the Simply Create Too blog. The theme is Autumn Splendor. Well if that didn't make me think about leaves...

I prepped my cardbase by stamping Impression Obsession's Grunge BG with gold ink. Then I applied Distress Inks liberally to a panel of Neenah white CS. I stamped the Papertrey Leave it Be leaves with water which bleached the CS. When it was dry, I went in with the veins and stamped them roughly where the bleached areas were. And heat embossed a sentiment from Jillibean Soup Handwritten Sentiments.

I used Papertrey Tipped Tops to die cut the stamped panel and a teal layer too. A few enamel dots finished off my card.

Wanna see that grungy background shimmering gold?

Thanks for visiting. Hope to see you at Simply Create Too #95.

heat embossing - oh how i missed you!

I'm back home in Germany after a couple months with my folks in MI and I missed you all!
And I missed my heat embossing tool ;)

So the first card produced was purely heat embossed with a new-to-me set that jumped into my suitcase, Avery Elle's Circle It.

Ran over to the AEIU Challenge site and saw that this month's challenge is to use a non-white cardbase. OK, grabbed kraft.

Then I pulled out some embossing powders that struck my fancy - turquoise, silver, purple and lilac - and did some multicolored heat embossing. You know the trick. Pour the first color on, tap off and rebottle the excess, pour the next color, etc.

And since I used three stamps from the set, I'm joining the fun at Simon Says Monday Challenge.

And I'm too late to the party, but joining the big NBUS hoopla in spirit.  "Celebrate!" Miss Darnell cuz you pulled off one heckuva party.  Again!

See ya'll soon!

STAMPlorations inspiration #36

Feeling inspired I was, after seeing a commercial on TV. Don't remember who it was for (guess they paid their advertising company too much, eh?), but I really liked all the skinny, rainbow-colored lines that were weaving their way across the black screen.

So I took some rainbow-y colored Zig Clean Color markers and used them to ink this bloom from Floral Bliss and stamped a wavy line of blooms down my card front. I even took a wet brush and softened up the flower centers a bit, see? Added some subtle splatters in yellow and orange and a sentiment in gray and a thank you card was born.

CASEplorations September

Welcome to the September installment of CASEplorations. You know the routine. We select one cool card from the blogosphere for your and our CASEing pleasure. Well this month it's a tag. Meet Penny the Pig.

Untitled

This makes-me-oh-so-happy creation comes to you from Gail. Surely you know Gail. OK, how about ionabunny, of The Crafty Nomad? Yep, that's her. And I love what she did with that sweet piggy.

But alas. Here I sit, still in MI without many supplies, only a few stamp sets and a week that included two funerals for people close to me. So when it came time for me to create a card, the wonderful humor of Gail's creation morphed to a(nother) sympathy card.

So how did I CASE her tag? Pink became monochromatic Abandoned Coral. Floating circles in the BG became floating blooms from Floral Bliss, stamped first with the reverse of the stamp and watered down ink, then correctly. TIP: This works great for stamps that are fairly symmetrical.

I used the grungy frame from the same set, stamped three more blooms on it, roughly where the blooms would match the blooms on my BG, and fussy cut it. This was my nod to Gail's tag. And the torn scrap for my one-word sentiment was my final nod to Gail's sentiment treatment. Sequins definitely could have made their way to this design, and I've only got about a bazillion of them. But, in Germany :(

Hope you enjoyed Gail's fun tag. Would love to see you give it a CASE and join us. Or you can CASE my card (I'd be thrilled) or any of the DT Inspiration Projects coming up during September.  Hook up your creations in the Inspiration CASE Playground. It's open until October 5th. Hope to see you there. You could be a lucky random winner!
